At the Petronas Towers is a huge shopping mall – KLCC. On the top floor of that mall, is this amazing discovery centre. Rohan and I headed in to see what we could learn.
“Petrosains is a Science Discovery Centre that uses a fun and interactive approach to tell the story of the science and technology of the energy industry. The sequence of the exhibits in Petrosains traces the evolution and scientific relevance of the energy industry while also focusing on general science and its application to everyday life. The hands-on approach adopted by Petrosains puts an emphasis on the fun and excitement of learning rather than on the rigorous memorisation of scientific facts.”
The whole thing is hands on. There’s SOOOO much to see and do – emphasis on the do. Rohan loves hands on stuff – anything that he can try out and play with is a hit.
From space and space travel, to dinosaurs, to energy and movement, to an oil platform to speed and motion – the exhibits are so well laid out and the activities so well designed for kids to try out what they’re learning about.
- In the wind tunnel at over 126 km / hourper
- Rohan in an astronaut sleep sack
- You capture a picture of your face on a screen and it takes that image and puts it inside the astronaut suit
- Haha
- Rohan’s fav play area – all interconnected to move pieces of tiny rubber around the whole system
- A huge platform
- Rohan getting ready to go down the escape shoot
You can see the video of Rohan going down the escape shoot here.
- Oil is required for F1 cars – learning about speed
- Full size F1 – a computer attached let you pick areas to learn about – what it’s made of, what the purpose is, etc.
- Learning about motion
- Robotics
So much fun. Too little time.
